Mohammad Abrar Elias completed his college from Notre Dame College, Dhaka, Bangladesh and finished his LL.B (Hons) from the University of the West of England. He studied Bar Professional Training Court (BPTC) at the City, University of London and was subsequently called to the Bar of England and Wales by the Honorable Society of Lincoln’s Inn. He further did his Post-Graduate Diploma in International Relations from the University of Dhaka. He is also accredited by ADR-ODR International as a Civil and Commercial Mediator.
Mohammad Abrar Elias has more than 3 years of continuous in-house and fieldwork experience as a research associate on the Human Rights situation in Bangladesh while working at Odhikar (Leading Human Rights Organisation in Bangladesh) as a research associate and documentation officer. While working at Odhikar, he has had the chance to contribute to the reports of various international human rights organisations such as Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch (HRW)”, the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH), Asian Human Rights Commission (AHRC). He has been further involved in facilitating and hosting 3-day training sessions for human rights defenders of Bangladesh which consisted of digital and online security training, database management and fact-finding training in addition to psychological support sessions for victims or families of victims of grave human rights violations.
His work at Odhikar further included drafting correspondences and communication forms for the Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances of the United Nations (UNWGEID). Mr Elias has also played an important role as the project manager of a project International Corporate Accountability Roundtable (ICAR).He has two publications under his name as a co-author which are both research-based publications going by the name of “Absence of Democracy and Systematic Human Rights Violations by State Apparatus: 2009-2020 (December 2020)” and Disenfranchisement under the Authoritarian Regime (November 2021)”.
Mohammad Abrar Elias was also selected as the participant from Bangladesh for the Dutch Visitors Programme: 2020 Human Rights hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands. The 14-day programme included conducting presentations with the Human Rights Ambassador at the Ministry of Justice of Netherlands, completing a workshop on Digital Security at Free-Press, interviewing six prison detainees at “Alphen aan den Rijn”, participating in the “Hague Talks” and attending various seminars and organisations. Mr Elias has further co-hosted “Training of Trainers: Malaysia 2019” and co-drafted a research paper on available mechanisms for victims of grave human rights violations in each respective country in connection with the organisation “Asian Federation Against Involuntary Disappearances”. He has also had the chance to closely observe the General Election of Bangladesh held in December 2018 as a professional human rights activist or defender at Odhikar.
Tasmina Shahtaj completed her LL.B (Hons) from the University of the West of England and studied Bar Professional Training Court (BPTC) at the City, University of London. She further pursued a Master's degree in Human Rights Law from London School of Economics and Political Science. She is also accredited by ADR-ODR International as a Civil and Commercial Mediator.
Tasmina Shahtaj has 3 years of experience in civil, criminal, and public interest litigation (PIL) matters. In collaboration with Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) and BLAST, she has made valuable contributions to promoting and advocating for women's rights. She has worked as a Research Associate at Akhtar Imam and Associates where she assisted managing partners in landmark PIL cases concerning illegal human organ trading and prevention of unnecessary c-section. Moreover, she has worked as a Court Clerk at the Snaresbrook Crown Court of England and Wales.
Tasmina Shahtaj participated in the 62nd United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (UNCSW) held at the United Nations headquarters in New York. She used the platform to advocate for the issue of honour killings in the sub-continent region and solicited international community to take measures on the heinous crime.

(Dabur Bangladesh) for infringing on the single-color trademark of the blue bottled Parachute coconut oil, a case that set a significant precedent in trademark law in Bangladesh.
In addition to litigation, Shantanu excels in arbitration, having represented Tiger IT Limited, Honda Bangladesh Limited, and Santa Properties Limited in arbitration proceedings under the Arbitration Act 2001. His responsibilities included conducting thorough legal research, drafting complex arbitration notices, and working closely with arbitration tribunals to secure favorable outcomes for his clients. His proficiency in alternative dispute resolution is further evidenced by his accreditation as an International Civil and Commercial Mediator under ADR ODR International UK.

As a legal advisor to Bproperty.com Limited, he played a pivotal role in drafting and submitting the company’s Employment Handbook to the Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments (DIFE), ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
