Tasmina Shahtaj completed her LL.B (Hons) from the University of the West of England and studied Bar Professional Training Court (BPTC) at the City, University of London. She further pursued a Master’s degree in Human Rights Law from London School of Economics and Political Science. She is also accredited by ADR-ODR International as a Civil and Commercial Mediator.

Tasmina Shahtaj has 3 years of experience in civil, criminal, and public interest litigation (PIL) matters. In collaboration with Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) and BLAST, she has made valuable contributions to promoting and advocating for women’s rights. She has worked as a Research Associate at Akhtar Imam and Associates where she assisted managing partners in landmark PIL cases concerning illegal human organ trading and prevention of unnecessary c-section. Moreover, she has worked as a Court Clerk at the Snaresbrook Crown Court of England and Wales.

Tasmina Shahtaj participated in the 62nd United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (UNCSW) held at the United Nations headquarters in New York. She used the platform to advocate for the issue of honour killings in the sub-continent region and solicited international community to take measures on the heinous crime.
